Editor's note: this is NOT the Parelli "Pedro"!!! Congratulations to Kathy and Pedro
(a past Legacy Friesians sale horse- no this is not the Parelli Pedro)
for making a spectacular entrance to the show world in the LA area. They
got scores of 6's and mostly 7's - with 8's at the halt. It was their
first show together and Kathy's 1st ever dressage show.
Aside from the scores Kathy reports happily that Pedro was excellent!
They got 1st place in both classes! Way to go, Kathy and Pedro!!!
Congratulations, Kathy and Greg!!!
Well -Pedro has been quite the stellar boy! He has been complimented on his handsomeness, and most importantly, his attitude, by his new barn mates. He continues to pass test after test - and to be honest, I have no more tests for him - he's just a good boy!!!! I rode him today, all alone with no horse nanny - he was great! BTW - you can for sure feel very confident in using me as a reference going forward. I was without a doubt a skeptic from Southern California about buying a horse from an internet listing. I shopped for my last horse for about 1 year (no kidding) as horse after horse didn't feel right or was lame, etc and Pedro was the 1st horse and only horse I looked at in my recent venture for a new partner. He's WONDERFUL! K.
Here is a quote from trainer Sylvia Lindstrom: I have been working with Friesian horses in almost 20 years now. I have to say that Pedro belongs to my very favorite frisians that I met under that time. Almost all friesians are lovable in one or another way, but to find a candidate for the more advanced dressage classes is not always that easy. The best thing with Pedro is his character and intelligence. He is very eager to please his rider, never lazy (that can be a friesian problem) but not too hot eather and he is very clever. He learns very quickly even the more advanced movements, that can cost other horses severel months of training. We have been taken Pedro to the Ocean, saddled him at a parking place with cars, many people, barking dogs, playing children and he was very calm. He had never been at the beach before and even if he thought the waves where a bit frightening in the beginning, he went there bravely and had big fun cantering on the beach in the end. I took him after my ride to the little town, there was quite a lot of traffik, cars where stopping and all the people admired him- and he seemd to be fond of the situation being a star. I think he is a very reliable horse which I would take anywhere. Pedro and I got that certain kind of relationship almost at once- we liked each other, and we trusted each other. And I think that is what it is all about. Pedros gaits are good, especially the canter. He is balanced and he loves to canter (the canter is the most problematic gait for quite a lot of friesians). Pedro needs only very light helps of his rider, you need no power to ride him. He is very happy for reward and works twice as good if he understands that you are satisfied with him. He shall not have a rider that punishes him. He is nice and easy in the stable
and when you have to load him on the trailer. He is a horse that doen´t
want to cause trouble. In Germany one calls horses like Pedro "a horse
that can read and write". I guess you understand ...
