Arabella
Ludse 305         x          Bendert 281

Arabella is a wonderful riding horse and easy to sit. I have never quite had as much fun riding any other Friesian!  She is super sweet and friendly- loves people and attention.  She is very intelligent and learns very quickly...  she already knows leg yields, shoulder-in, haunches in, and walk to canter transitions, so with the right trainer/rider she could quickly start showing 2nd level.   I have taken Arabella to the Albany Horse expo and ridden her in costume.  As long as she could see her friend Pedro- she was as cool as could be.  She also likes trail rides.  She is a very social horse and is the horse I choose as the babysitter, when I get new foals in.  She is so kind to them and will discipline them and teach them manners if they get too far out of line.

Sylvia Lindstrom has been here training her during the last few days and thinks Arabella would be suitable for a beginner.  She is impressed with how far Arabella has come since she first met her 2 years ago and also is impressed at how willing she is.  Arabella is a hard worker and always tries to please her rider - no spurs  required.

Arabella and I recently participated at a Devonwood Blue ribbon schooling show on December 2, 2006.    This was also my first dressage show, and we scored a 66.0 in Intro A and a 65.7 in Intro B.  In 2007 we should be able to get to 1st level, if I don't hold her back too much!

These are the only photos that came out (indoor photos didn't come out)

Are we going in that place with the mirrors again?

Arabella's sire, Ludse 305, is 16.1 and a half hands tall.  He sired Adel 357, an amazing stallion who was featured for his talent at dressage at the 2005 stallion show-
you can see it here
The crowd went crazy for Adel 357 who's upper level dressage movements combined with his long hair was simply magical to watch.

Ludse's sire is Naen and his damsire is Jochem. On his dam side, he comes from the same performance blood as Tsjerk.  Ludse is the only stallion in the Netherlands who has a son that is competing in Prix st George level (Adel 357).

Ludse was owned by Fred Hekstra in Michigan and was at stud in America for most of his adult life.  But in 2002 HH Toonen (a large stud farm in the Netherlands that has 4 other approved stallions, decided to buy him and transport him back to the Netherlands (which almost never happens)! They say they had to buy him and get him back to the Netherlands mainly because his offspring excel in sport (dressage) and they need to start breeding more Friesians that excel in dressage. In spite of his advanced age he still moves very well.  They also say he always is level-headed and hs good sense and also likes to work very much. (which is also true of both Arabella and Wideke)!
