Sharlene
called me today to tell us that Zen passed away March 31, 2009, quietly
in his sleep.
She
wanted us to know how great he had been doing- he had learned flying changes
and was just about ready to show 3rd level dressage. I would like
to express my sincere condolences to Sharlene for her extreme loss of such
a stunning horse with a loving character.
I
know how hard it was for me to say goodbye to Zen 2 years ago, when he
was sold.
I
can only imagine what Sharlene is going through right now.
I
am so happy that Zen and Sharlene found each other and to know he was loved
each and every day, even though his life was much shorter than it should
have been.

still Here- Author Unknown
Please
don't mourn for me, I'm
still here, though you don't see. I'm
right by your side each night and day, and
within your heart I long to stay.
My
body is gone, but I'm always near. I'm
everything you feel, see or hear. My
spirit is free, but I'll never depart, as
long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll
never wander out of your sight, I'm
the brightest star on a summer night. I'll
never be beyond your reach, I'm
the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm
the colorful leaves, when fall comes around, and
the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I'm
the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond, the
clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm
the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring, the
first warm raindrop that April will bring. I'm
the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and
you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When
you start thinking there's no one to love you, you
can talk to me through the Lord above you I'll
whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and
you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm
the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and
the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm
the smile you see on a baby's face. Just
look for me, I'm every place.
Here
is a reference letter from Sharlene after she first got him to her
home:

Gooitzen (taken Nov 18, 2006)
"Zen" took top honors at the 2006
Eugene Oregon keuring when he won Grand Champion Gelding and Grand Champion
Overall!!!

Look at his SCORES from the keuring!!!!!
He got a total of 106, which is is INCREDIBLE- 100 is average. His lowest
mark was a 104... unbelievable.
You could tell he loved to show
off for the audience and his trot was absolutely breathtaking! The judges
could not stop talking about him afterwards.
Zen is 16.3 hands tall and
has a commanding presence whether it is in the stable, in the show ring,
or galloping in the pasture- no one can take their eyes off him.
He is actually better in person than in these photos. He has 3 totally
awe inspiring gaits and unlimited potential!!!
He has a really short shiny coat
and he looks as if he was just clipped- however that is just the way he
is naturally. He doesn't get a winter coat and he also likes to stay
really clean to achieve that look like he is ready for a photo shoot at
any time.

Gooitzen was a stallion candidate
that made it to the third round but didn't pass the semen motility
test, so we gelded him and imported him. He did however, pass the
strict requirements on xrays, so he was as clean on xrays....
He has a certificate from the FPS saying that he was clean on xrays, signed
by their veterinarian.
