About Us
Legacy Friesians is located in the heart of Oregon's wine country, in Newberg, Oregon, but we have customers from almost every US state and Canada as well.  We import about 30-40 Friesians every year for ourselves and our customers, and we have a very close bond with our business partner in Holland.    By working with only one trusted source in Holland, we are able to have confidence in the quality of our FPS/FHANA Friesians.  Proof of this statement can be demonstrated by how our horses did at the 2006 keuring in Eugene, OR!   We always some adult Friesians and some foals for sale at our farms in the USA.  If we don't happen to have exactly what you want, we can help you import a Friesian from our partner in the Netherlands.  We have special volume discounts with our partner and with an international shipper that allow us to keep our import prices very low (especially to the east coast, where you get an additional shipping discount).   Because of our connections, buying a 'direct from Holland' horse from us is actually cheaper than going to Holland and finding your own Friesian, and the quality of our imported horses is unmatched for the price.   We absolutely DO NOT CUT CORNERS on our imported horses.  We spend more money to use only reputable quarantine centers and haulers.  Our philosophy is to use only high quality haulers and quarantine centers so that our horses are happy, healthy, and ready to go to their new home in the USA.

We do everything in our power to ensure that the customer has an excellent experience and we put customer satisfaction as our number one priority.  Please check our referrals page to see some of our customer's comments!  Also, check out this independent and informative website which rates Friesian Businesses.

We encourage our buyers to keep sending photos and updates on their Friesian after they receive him/her, and we update their horse's webpage on a monthly basis.  Our customers are like part of our family, so we encourage all our buyers to keep in touch and let us know what they are doing with their Friesian.
All of our Friesians are FPS / FHANA registered, and Legacy Friesians is a member in good standing with the FPS and FHANA and can be found on FHANA's breeder links page.

The founder and owner of Legacy Friesians, Sue Zoltner, is originally from Rochester, New York.  She has worked as an image scientist for Xerox corporation for over 19 years. (she still works there, full time)  As a child, Sue started taking riding lessons at Huntington Meadow Stables in Webster, NY.  Although she couldn't have her own horse at that time, the dream of owning her own horse stayed with her.  After college, and through her mid 30's, the dream was put on the back burner as Sue dedicated all her free time towards being a competitive runner... running races from 5Ks to marathons.  In 2002, Sue was able to transfer to to Xerox's engineering center in Wilsonville, Oregon, and she decided it was time to make her horse dream come true and founded Legacy Friesians shortly after.   Sue's current hobbies include studying the Dutch language, taking dressage lessons, and of course uniting Friesians from the Netherlands with their new loving American owners.

Janet, Our business partner in Holland, has a keen eye for finding us the best sale
horses!!  Janet's father was the breeder of the approved stallion, Tjesse 400, and he still runs the Oosterland stable.  Janet is an expert at keuring preparation and comes over every year to help us at our local keuring.

Sylvia Lindstrom has been training Friesians for over 20 years and lives in Sweden.
She is partnered with Legacy Friesians and comes over at least once a year to conduct clinics/demos and intensively trains our horses.  She will be offering horses for sale that are trained to higher levels than we can normally get.  Right now she is training a Sibald 380 stallion who is coming along very nicely, and is working on the Spanish walk and he's only 4 and a half years old!!!
