Welmoed
                   Heinse 354          x       Oege 267 Preferent

Congratulations to her new owner, Elsa Salzbrun of Bremerton, Washington!!!  We know you will LOVE Welmoed, she is the most gorgeous mare we have ever seen!!!  We can't wait to see photos of her Jasper foal!!!!

Here is a reference letter from Elsa:

What a blessing my Welmoed has been since her purchase from Sue Zolttner!
This "gentle giant" is gentle, smart, elegant and we have bonded for life.

My daughter Monique bought a Friesian from Sue, (Mohair), about six months
ago.  She knew I was in the market for a Friesian also and recommended Sue.
I had surfed the net a lot exploring different farms with Friesians, and
Welmoed was the only mare that caught my eye due to the large collection of
pictures and information.  My daughter and I drove to Sue's farm and I was
very impressed on the cleanliness and the quality care her horses received.
I fell in love with Welmoed at first sight.

Sue made the experience very pleasurable and as a novice, it's nice to know
she is just an e- mail away if I have any questions or concerns.  I highly
recommend Legacy Friesian Farms for any Friesian purchases.

              Sincerely,

                     Elsa Salzbrun

Welmoed recently won the Grand Champion mare at the 2006 Oregon keuring!

She is a star mare born 5-30-1999.  She's jet black and has a VERY pretty head and very thick mane. She is 16 hands tall.  Her sire is Heinse 354, an AMAZING stallion, who is also the sire of Gooitzen.    Heinse's books were limited to only 20 mares  this year so offspring by Heinse are rare and hard to find... Her damsire Oege 267, the preferent stallion known for passing on the "long hair" gene and when you meet Welmoed, you will see that she is a good example with long, thick mane.

Welmoed had a prepurchase exam in Holland before we had her bred to Jasper, and a full set of digital xrays where she was rated as Excellent, with all 1s (perfect xrays!).  Welmoed has the sensitivity, suspension, and balanced canter that could take her to the upper levels in dressage.  Sylvia Lindstrom is willing to talk to anyone about her experience riding and training Welmoed, so if you are interested, write to me and I can provide contact information for Sylvia.  Sylvia has ridden Friesians for the king of Sweden and has been training Friesians for over 20 years.  She thought Welmoed was the best Friesian mare with the most potential in dressage that she has ever met.

Her dam, Tsjitske Anne has 2 star offspring so far, 2 more and she will be preferent and Welmoed will be considered what the Dutch call full papered.

Welmoed is confirmed in foal to Jasper for a 2007.  She had an ultrasound on Sept 20th, which showed she was approximately 65 days in foal, which will make her due around mid June, 2007.  Jasper was one of the 4 finalists in the 2006 World Champion class among all approved Friesian stallions for the best trot. He passes on lots of hair as well, so this baby has hair genes on both sides of mom, and the sire as well.  Jasper is an excellent Friesian stallion with 20% first premie foals and a total of 76% 1st and 2nd premie foals. Jasper's semen not available frozen. Jasper has 3 outstanding approved sons: Beart 411, Dries 421 & Haitse 425. He tends to produce compact offspring.  We think Jasper will be  the next Preferent stallion.   Jasper's son, Beart 411, won the world championship class in 2006.  I actually have people interested in Welmoed's in utero Jasper foal already, so I will gladly put Welmoed's buyer in touch with customers for her foal.

Welmoed was very recently imported (Sept 2006), but we decided to enter her in the keuring anyway.  She did well, winning Grand Champion mare, but didn't get 1st premie, she got 2nd premie star mare.  We think she is capable of 1st premie star mare and Model, when she has more time to prepare!

Here is her 2007 foal's pedigree:
